The latest entry in the Alto family, the Alto SZ boasts reduced carbon dioxide emissions of just 99g per kilometre driven – making it exempt from the London Congestion Charge and Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) for cost-of-ownership savings – while still offering peak torque of 90Nm at 3,400rpm and boosted response and flexibility through the introduction of a dual variable valve timing (VVT) engine.

The minor model change Alto also features a new design interior colour and fabric trim, new full wheel covers on the SZ and SZ3 models, and a dipping rear-view mirror as well as Glistening Gray Metallic as a finish option.

It’s the efficiency of the vehicle that Suzuki is keen to push, however: in manual transmission, the Alto SZ is not only exempt from the Congestion Charge and VED, but hits an impressive fuel consumption of 65.7mpg in the combined cycle – making the car, Suzuki claims, one of the cleanest and most efficient petrol-powered city cars available in the India.
